Friendship Primary Library Opening

The second of four libraries slated to be completed within a six month time frame saw it’s grand opening today. Equipped as always with books and computers from donations made from N.E.E.T. contributors, this library opening had many prestigious attendees. Amongst the attendees were Mayor Keith Hinds of Portmore, Mayor Bertel Moore of Westmoreland, and the former minister of agriculture, Roger Clarke. Also present were members of the Ministry of Education; Senior Education Officer for Primary schools, Esmin Anderson; Territorial Education Officer, Jacqueline Brown; Counselor Paul Wilson;  Counselor Edwin Allwood; Chairman of the school board, Trevor Hylton. The next school expected to receive a library will be Sir Clifford Campbell Primary School in February.

Dennis Hawthorne

Dennis Hawthorne is the Founder & CEO of Dennis Shipping Company in New York and is the man responsible for shipping all N.E.E.T. book and computer donations free of cost from New York to Jamaica. He has shipped millions of books and thousands of computers because he shares a common interest with N.E.E.T in fighting crime through education and giving back to the land in which he was born. He has been recognized on several occasions for his contributions to the island of Jamaica.

Mr. Hawthorne has also recently sponsored three scholarships valued at US$5,000 as stated in the Gleaner article below.
